Description of Significance THE METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH SOUTH OF CHECOTAH IS THE SOLE SURVIVING EXAMPLE OF FEDERALIST REVIVAL DESIGN USED DURING THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY FOR METHODIST CHURCHES. BUILT OF SMOOTH-FACED RED BRICK WITH A LIMESTONE WATERTABLE, THIS TWO-STORY CHURCH HAS A LOW-PITCHED HIPPED ROOF WITH CROSS GABLES. ON THE INTERIOR, THE CHURCH IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A CORNER PULPIT TYPE, POPULAR EARLY IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 11/13/1984.
